Twitter Introduces Enhanced Editing Feature for Blue Subscribers
Social media giant Twitter is undergoing a new change, enhancing its popular feature for Blue Subscribers. The platform has announced that starting from Wednesday, June 7th, Blue Subscribers will have a one-hour window to edit their previously posted tweets.
Expanding the Editing Feature
Previously, this editing feature was limited to only 30 minutes when it was launched in October 2022. Twitter users had been demanding this feature for several years, and the official Twitter Blue account confirmed on Wednesday that paying customers will now have one hour to edit their posted tweets, validating the much-awaited enhancement.
A Long-standing Demand
Editing tweets has been one of the most requested features by Twitter users ever since Jack Dorsey, the current CEO of the social networking company, introduced the platform in 2006. Last year, Elon Musk acquired Twitter for approximately $44 billion and decided to load the subscription-based Twitter Blue service with special features. Users can avail themselves of this service for $8 (approximately 900 rupees).
The Motive Behind the Feature
Elon Musk’s intention with this enhancement was to inject more funds into Twitter’s treasury, as the platform was not generating enough profit previously. To balance the company’s financial situation and reduce costs, Musk eliminated global employees as part of an internal restructuring process.
Rollout and Announcement
In 2022, the edit feature for post tweets was rolled out exclusively for Twitter Blue subscribers. However, the strategy to include more paid customers has not been yielding the expected results. Additionally, the low-advertisement feature of Twitter Blue, which was heavily advertised since February this year, has not been rolled out yet.
Additional Features to Enhance User Experience
Nevertheless, the social networking platform has added other features to enhance the user experience. For instance, in May, Twitter announced that it would provide its users with a picture-in-picture mode for videos, making it easier to scroll through the timeline without waiting for videos to finish playing.
Conclusion
Twitter’s decision to extend the edit feature for Blue Subscribers to one hour marks a significant development for the platform. With this enhancement, users have more flexibility in editing their tweets, addressing a long-standing demand. While Twitter continues to refine its service and introduce new features, users can expect a more enhanced and seamless experience on the platform in the future.
